As the forecast front approaches I managed to get a quick stitch in of the iconic lighthouse at the Castlepoint settlement. Not the calm evening light I was hoping for but dramatic in its own right I guess.

A moody night at Castlepoint in the Wairarapa. With rain imminent I set the camera up for a long exposure for something a little less typical of the lighthouse. As it got darker and darker I kept adding more time, until after my best guess I closed the shutter after 12 minutes. Quite an ethereal effect.

The new shape of the Sumner coastline after the recent quakes. Even Shag Rock is half the size it was. Behind me walls of shipping containers try and protect the public if the cliffs give way.
